Progress!

On the "won't-quit-my-day-job" new hobby front:

Yes, there is some improvement to my knitting. Some. I'm still not thrilled with it (since it's not perfect and all), but in a strange way I'm enjoying the freedom of being a novice. Yay me.

On the "whip-my-butt-into-shape" exercise front:

I've moved on to week 4 in the running plan. This means I now do the following pattern:
  • 3 minutes jogging
  • 1.5 minutes brisk walking
  • 5 minutes jogging
  • 2.5 minutes brisk walking
  • 3 minutes jogging
  • 1.5 minutes brisk walking
  • 5 minutes jogging
  • 2.5 minutes gasping, limping, and cursing my way to the locker room.

OK, so that last part isn't technically part of the plan. However, I take pride in the fact that I have successfully made the shift from mostly walking, to mostly jogging. Yay me.

Woo hoo! Your knitting looks great (better than I could do) and congrats on the running! I picked it up again tonight - it's so nice to be exercising again!

I loved "I Dream of You" - I hope you're enjoying it. Plus, I love everything Maeve has ever written but the best for me was Tara Road.

Have you tried Rosamunde Pilcher and Judith Lennox too, both very readable in a Maeve kind of way.

Laura - Yes, I LOVE Rosamunde. My faves are Coming Home and Winter Solstice. I haven't tried Judith Lennox but I love Judith Saxton - esp. Still Waters. So far I really like I Dream of You. Thanks for posting!

Nicole and Em - thanks for the cheers of support! :)

I read Judith Saxton's Royal Breed about Orchids and really liked it but still prefer Judith Lennox. Start with the Winter House, Footprints in the Sand or The Shadow Child. I wrote to her after reading the latter and she sent me the loveliest email back. I'm a fan for life.
